  • Skilled in reviewing bid documents and estimating construction costs for Asphalt Paving, Site Concrete, Excavation, and Structural Concrete projects;

  • Presented detailed proposals to clients and negotiated directly on behalf of Abbey to secure contracts;

  • Contracted approximately $31,000,000 in 2020. Average project value of $500,000, ranging from $25,000 to over $9,000,000;

  • Continue to increase total sales contribution 35% annually – Personally responsible for nearly 25% of company sales in 2020;

  • Increased project gross profit 25% in 2019 and 30% in 2020;

  • Increased market share for City of Chicago Right of Way and Park projects. Developing this niche market provided a reputation of excellence that became a competitive advantage in securing contracts that have traditionally been awarded to lowest bid;

  • Successfully targeted and secured contracts with three sought-after clients to develop key relationships, increase market share, and ensure Abbey is catering to the best clientele in our environment;

  • Consistently proficient in bidding public projects, subcontracting, and managing the project throughout its life cycle;

  • Integrated Bid2Win estimating software to Abbey. Developed an Excel-based template that mimicked Abbey’s traditional estimating template. This, in turn, smoothed the learning curve for co-workers and allowed for customization such as quantity and unit price confirmation. I continue to manage software updates and license renewals and update our labor, equipment, material, and vendor databases;

  • Developed and maintain a Google Earth database for locally-sourced materials and dump locations to ensure proper selection during project estimation and management;

  • Skilled in calculating excavation volumes from PDF or AutoCAD grading plans using Agtek

  • Earthwork 4D, including cut/fill volumes and geofoam;

  • Ushered in a nearly paper-free estimating process, saving the company thousands in unnecessary printing costs.

BEHR IRON & METAL, INC. ROCKFORD, IL 2009 - 2012

Project Manager

  • Designed a new entrance for Peoria facility. $1.2 million budget included dual truck scales, radiation detection, site development, ATM, and office building. Performed all tasks including advocating executive support; site management, structural, and interior design; rezoning; contracting; scheduling; project accounting; and construction management. Project resulted in faster customer service, precise transaction weights on state-certified scales, and a flagship design that will be a template for two additional facilities by 2013;

  • Negotiated electric energy contracts for large use locations. Each contract purchases $2-300,000 per year. Rockford and Peoria negotiations yielded $32,000 and $20,000 savings respectively. A partnership with the energy utility in South Beloit has realized over $200,000 savings annually;

  • Contracted the installation of high efficiency lighting at Rockford headquarters generating $83,000 annual energy savings and a three to five year payback period;

  • Member of a design and implementation team that executed over a million dollars of remediation projects spanning 2009 and 2010;

  • Managed corporate real estate portfolio of 20 leased properties and over 100 owned.

  • Organized purchases and sales, zoning, donations, railroad access, strategic site design, and surveying and phase one analysis;

  • Completed a $500,000 office renovation project at corporate offices in Rockford;

  • Consultant for the replacement of a mega shredder. This $12 million project includes heavy equipment, site work & paving, a new 69 KV substation, re-zoning, and major rail road track renovations including a rail scale and radiation detectors.
